Nestled in the bay of Three Fathoms Cove, one-thirtyone is a European restaurant with dishes created from locally sourced produce. The 3-storey Mediterranean style building in Sai Kung provides a mesmerizing backdrop for all occasions: dates, gatherings, parties, and weddings alike. Reminiscent of a luxury European country retreat, one- thirtyone is a mere 30-minute journey from the concrete jungle of Hong Kong.

OUR FOUNDER

20200728_127.jpg

Kim was born in London, UK and grew up in Hong Kong. She studied graphic design at Chelsea College of Arts. Kim's passion was always in fashion, so when she returned to Hong Kong, she worked as a fashion buyer. After a decade of being a fashion buyer, Kim decided to quit her job to further develop her love of cooking and baking.

Following the advice of family friend So Yan Kit, the famous Chinese food historian, writer and cookery expert, Kim attended the prestigious Leiths School of Food & Wine in London to pursue her love of the culinary arts.

When Kim returned to Hong Kong once more, she saw a gap in Hong Kong for contemporary European cuisine and where dining can be a true experience and getaway. She created one-thirtyone in 2000, and the eatery has been a local and expat favourite in the Sai Kung area for the past two decades.

“one-thirtyone is the realisation of a dream, that I could create a restaurant where my guests can experience an unforgettable dining experience, where each of their sensory perceptions are fulfilled.” - Kim

As an animal lover, Kim encourages her guests to bring their furry friends with them on weekends, to frolic across the scenic lawn and enjoy panoramic views of Sai Kung.
