Return to the one-thirtyone home page for a quick overview of the house above Three Fathoms Cove. This note is for guests who already have a date on the books and want the last mile to feel predictable.

Dining room at one-thirtyone with warm lighting and set tables

From Central or Admiralty Most evenings people take the MTR to Hang Hau or Tseung Kwan O, then change to a green minibus toward Sai Kung town. From the Sai Kung minibus terminus, a short taxi ride along Sai Sha Road to Tseung Tau Village is the simplest hand-off. Tell the driver you are going to 131 Tseung Tau Village near Three Fathoms Cove so they can line up the correct turning.

From Tsim Sha Tsui or Jordan Take the MTR toward Tseung Kwan O line stations, then follow the same Sai Kung minibus pattern, or book a taxi direct if you are carrying evening clothes and prefer one ride. Traffic around the tunnel can add time on Fridays, so pad thirty minutes on peak nights.

Arrival at the gate The building sits on a quiet lane above the cove. Outdoor phone signal can be patchy, so screenshot your booking confirmation before you leave town. If you need a high chair, room preference, or a slower pace for older guests, add that on the Reservations form or email through Contact.

Menus for lunch and dinner stay on the site so you can plan drinks and pacing before you travel. For birthdays or corporate groups, read Private Dining and Events before you call, then open the Gallery when you want a sense of the rooms.

Visitors find themselves immersed in the ultimate fine dining experience mixed with cozy nostalgia, a sense of home.

OUR FOUNDER

20200728_127.jpg

Kim was born in London, UK and grew up in Hong Kong. She studied graphic design at Chelsea College of Arts. Kim's passion was always in fashion, so when she returned to Hong Kong, she worked as a fashion buyer. After a decade of being a fashion buyer, Kim decided to quit her job to further develop her love of cooking and baking.

Following the advice of family friend So Yan Kit, the famous Chinese food historian, writer and cookery expert, Kim attended the prestigious Leiths School of Food & Wine in London to pursue her love of the culinary arts.

When Kim returned to Hong Kong once more, she saw a gap in Hong Kong for contemporary European cuisine and where dining can be a true experience and getaway. She created one-thirtyone in 2000, and the eatery has been a local and expat favourite in the Sai Kung area for the past two decades.

“one-thirtyone is the realisation of a dream, that I could create a restaurant where my guests can experience an unforgettable dining experience, where each of their sensory perceptions are fulfilled.” - Kim

As an animal lover, Kim encourages her guests to bring their furry friends with them on weekends, to frolic across the scenic lawn and enjoy panoramic views of Sai Kung.
